Iran releases over 60 million juvenile fish to enhance its stock
Tehran – Iran has introduced 61 million juvenile fish into its waters since early June, targeting the Caspian Sea, inland rivers, and southern coastal zones, according to the Director General of Iran’s Fisheries Stock Restoration Office.
The mass release, part of a broader plan to deploy 322 million fry this year, aims to bolster fish stocks, safeguard food security, and protect endangered aquatic species, Nasser Karami-Rad said.
He further emphasized the program has been implemented with the aim of strengthening biodiversity in fragile ecosystems, and ensuring future yields for the fishing industry.
